Blackburn Festival, the town’s annual free outdoor celebration of music, culture and arts, will return to Witton Park on Saturday 6th September 2014. Organised by a voluntary committee, the event will build on the success of last year with a varied lineup of quality visual and performing artists.
Heading up the main stage are Eastbourne alternative rockers Toploader, performing amongst other hits their recent single “This Is The Night” and popular chart anthem “Dancing In The Moonlight”. The 40-artist music lineup, which will be announced over the summer, will represent the best acts from the UK, Lancashire and Blackburn, including the Northern Jazz Orchestra, Download Festival veterans Sky Valley Mistress and harmonious rock ‘n’ rollers The Slydes.
The festival’s flagship performing arts piece is an original, interactive theatrical installation presented by Nutkhut and titled “Navrattan: A Quest for the Lost Gems”. The story is inspired and informed by traditional Indian folklore and the immersive sets will enchant young and old alike.
Blackburn Festival is funded by public and private sector partners, including Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Capita Symonds and Source Creative.
