Adult learning courses available across the borough

Adult learning courses on dozens of subjects are on offer throughout the borough.

Over 3,000 adults learning new skills and develop new interests every year and now short courses in the community run through Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are available on a range of subjects. The courses take place at a range of locations across the borough, including schools and community centres  and courses range from two hour workshops to others that last a number of weeks.

Courses are designed for general interest, alongside supporting you to move onto further learning or employment, as well as improving your health and wellbeing.

Course fees are charged for general interest courses and some workshops, whilst employability, health and wellbeing courses and workshops are free of charge. For charged courses, if you receive Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance, you only need to pay the £5 enrolment fee.

Some courses take place at high schools in the borough – Darwen Vale, Pleckgate, Blackburn Central, Crosshill and Witton Park, through the Building Schools for the Future Community Use scheme.
