Blackburn and Darwen Libraries celebrate Black History month Roman Road road library mill hill livesey hill library Blackburn Library adult Darwen with Blackburn libraries come together to celebrate Black History Month.

October has been established for several years as Black History Month, to celebrate the art, culture and literature of various communities in the United Kingdom.

Throughout the half term there will be many activities for children and families to enjoy, such as storytelling, crafts and culture of Africa and Southern Asia.

List of events and times

Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy taster sessions for children aged 3 – 6 years
Monday, October 29, Darwen library, 2 pm – 2.45 pm
Thursday, November 1, Blackburn library, 2 pm – 2.45 pm
Admission free

Indian dance and storytelling workshop with Vina Ladwa
Tuesday, October 30, Darwen library, 10 am – 12 noon
Tuesday, October 30, Blackburn library, 2 pm – 4 pm
Admission 50p per child, accompanying adults free

Family story and craft activity (children must be accompanied by an adult)
Wednesday, October 31, Darwen library, 11am – 12 noon
Wednesday, October 31, Blackburn library, 2 pm – 3 pm
Admission free

African mask making
Monday, October 29, Mill Hill library, 10am – 12 noon
Friday, November 2, Livesey library, 10 am – 12 noon
Friday, November 2, Roman Road library, 2 pm – 4 pm
Admission 50p per child, accompanying adults free
