Mindless vandals smash the Corporation Park conservatory Sergeant Conrad Tapp police offence Lottery Fund Lancashire Police Corporation Park Mindless vandals have attacked the listed Corporation Park conservatory in Blackburn leaving it with over 50 smashed windows.

The conservatory which was originally built in 1900 was attacked by four youths. The attack was witnessed by a member of the public at around 9.15pm on 19th September 2012.

The building which was already in a poor state of repair but aims to be renovated by a The Supporters of Corporation Park Group suffered tens of thousands pounds worth of damage in the attack. The Supporters Group had earlier this year submitted the first stage of a Lottery Fund application to help fund the restoration of the Grade II listed building.

Officers attended the scene along with a police dog but despite a search of the area the offenders could not be found.

Sergeant Conrad Tapp said: “This is mindless criminal damage which will cost thousands of pounds to repair. We need the public’s help to catch those responsible and I would appeal to anybody that witnessed any youths in the area, either prior to, or around the time of the offence to contact police.

“We are currently pursuing a number of positive lines of enquiry but anyone with any information should call Lancashire Police on 101.”

If anybody knows the attackers of one of the few remaining structures of any significance in the town, please do the right thing and contact the police now.
