Be the first to see Blackburn’s new schools – Witton and Darwen Vale

Witton Park High School, and Darwen Vale High School – are holding their community open days on Saturday, September 22, and everyone is invited to come along.

Residents across the borough can use facilities in the new schools, from ICT, indoor and outdoor fitness and sport equipment, libraries and resource centres and much more.

The schools are part of Blackburn with Darwen’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, and opened their doors in earlier this month to thousands of pupils across the borough.

Darwen Vale High School has been remodelled and rebuilt, keeping the iconic frontage. The school had been relocated to the former Darwen Moorland High School site at Holden Fold for two years.

As well as a stunning new hall and outdoor amphitheatre, it features fantastic new classrooms and sports facilities.

Set in the heart of Witton Country Park, the newly-built Witton Park High School has ultra-modern ICT and technology including Apple Mac computers.

It also boasts outdoor classrooms, multi-use games areas, outdoor gardens and orchards.

Darwen Vale’s community open day will be held from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, September 22, while Witton Park’s open day takes place between 1pm and 4pm.

There will also be a second Darwen Vale open day on Saturday, September 29, between 9am and 12pm.
