Kurram Hussain, 26, of Granville Road, Blackburn, Lancashire, had denied two charges of assault by beating, relating to two boys aged 10 and 11. There were originally three charges but one was dropped due to a witness not attending the court at Blackburn.

He was responsible for teaching children as young as 5 in evening classes, but two witnesses recounted several instances of being hit, including one boy being reportedly kicked in the back.

In mitigation, Hussain admitted he was a strict disciplinarian and when the boys misbehaved he would give them detention.

He will be sentenced at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on 17th August 2012.
