A local 12 year old schoolboy is hoping to bring the excitement of The Alton Towers Resort to Blackburn. Chris Holmes, a pupil at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, is asking readers of Blackburn Life to support his bid to bring the Alton Towers Fantastical Express to town.

Alton Towers, is one of the highest visited theme parks in the UK and consistently wins polls for the best roller coaster in the UK, Nemesis. It is owned by the Merlin Entertainments Group, who also several other theme parks, the Sea Life centres, Madame Tussauds, the London Eye and now, Blackpool Tower.

Alton Towers will choose 5 towns or cities in the UK for a special visit by the Alton Towers Fantastical Express. Every week for five weeks, the theme park will be choosing a lucky town for the Express to visit – and if we can persuade them to choose Blackburn, you can enter their competition to win 4 tickets for you and your family or friends to enjoy a fantastical day’s escape at Alton Towers Resort!

Chris, who, in his spare time, also runs an twitter feed for Alton Towers, with updates of news and events at the Resort said, “I have loved theme parks and roller coasters for as long as I can remember and I spend a lot of my time designing and creating new ideas for roller coasters of the future. A visit by the Alton Towers Fantastical Express would be a real boost for the town and I hope everyone will support me in my bid.”
