Police are encouraging local people to come along and lean about the work of the emergency services in Darwen town centre this weekend. Emergency services will host a community fun day in the town on Saturday 7 July between 10am and 2pm.
Organised by Darwen’s Shared Neighbourhood team, which includes both council staff and police officers, the ‘999 day’, will take place outside Darwen Market.
The event will see representatives from different organisations such as the police, fire and ambulance service, as well as the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and Bolton Mountain Rescue Service come together to offer members of the public important information about staying safe.
PCSO Nick Gisicz from Darwen Neighbourhood Policing team said: “This is excellent opportunity for people of Darwen to come and meet officers from the local police and other agencies.
“It’s a fantastic way to highlight the vital work of the emergency services and I’d like to thank everyone for their efforts in pulling together what I’m sure will be a great day for everyone.”
