Aspinall Arms, Mitton Review website weather River Ribble review restaurant pub food Copper Dragon Brewery Blackburn Aspinall Arms A charming old-world pub with large garden perfect for these balmy days. The menu ranged from sandwiches to steaks. The food style can simply be described as good pub grub. There is a choice of tables in the pub, a restaurant area and of course outside (if the weather is kind). The pub features a specials’ board which added a couple of starters and four main courses to the regular menu. We chose a range of meals with the highlights being the Steak, Mushroom and Real Ale Pie with large tender chucks of steak in a rich gravy and the Cheese and Onion Pie in a blue and white enamel dish that brought back memories of kitchens gone by. The food came with a mountain a chips and chunky vegetables in a large dish to share. The only negative with the main course was the plates were only just warm when the food arrived and the food got cold quite quickly.

The choice of desserts was fairly short on the menu but was again added by 3 extra choices from the blackboard. Not sure if the cheesecake that arrived was homemade but it was certainly tasty. It is the first time we have ever had sticky toffee pudding with no sticky toffee sauce, so that was a shame.

Our bill came to around £15 a head with two courses and a couple of rounds of mainly soft drinks. It was a shame we weren’t able to sample some of the real ales from the Copper Dragon Brewery due to designated driver status, but we will be back to sample later.

In general we would happily come back to the Aspinall Arms and really fancy a lazy lunch in the garden with the sunshine bright and the River Ribble just yards away.
